The Minoan civilization worshiped the bull as a sacred animal. It's horns decorate the Palace of Knossos while the importance attatched to the bull is also prevalent in Minoan mythology. The most famous myth is that of the Minotaur, a creature half-man half-bull and was the son of Zeus.
